JBP Board Member Chris Hayward appointed as Sheriff of the City of London

JBP’s Chis Hayward is the newly elected Sheriff of the City of London.

Dating back to the Middle Ages, the Sheriff is one of the world’s oldest continually elected civic offices, once responsible for delivering the top-most important financial and judicial duties of the City. Today, the post remains a pre-requisite to becoming Lord Mayor of the City of London Corporation and continues its focus in the UK financial and business sectors.

Over the years, Chris has contributed his vast expertise in property, infrastructure, planning and strategic communications and was officially appointed as a member of the JBP Board in September 2019. As Sheriff, Chris will now perform civic duties alongside the Lord Mayor and will be an official ambassador for the UK’s financial and professional service industries – promoting the UK as a place to do business both at home and overseas.

Prior to his appointment as Sheriff, Chris served as Chairman for the Planning and Transportation Committee at the Corporation of the City of London. His other positions include member of City of Livery Committee, Court of the Guild of Freemen, as well as representative for Broad Street Ward on the Court of Common Council – since his 2013 election. His work has spanned policy, infrastructure and charity sectors, including being a Trustee of Barts Hospital and consulting for a global PLC and a Parliamentary Lobbyist firm.

We congratulate Chris is his appointment as Sheriff of The City of London and look forward to an exciting year ahead as we welcome him to the JBP Board.
