JBP Communications, a leading national communications agency, has joined the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), the voice of business since 1965.

The CBI represents 850 members who themselves comprise 1,200 separate registered companies and over 150,000 trade association members. It was founded 60 years ago and represents some of the biggest names in business, household brands and globally traded corporations that employ people in all sectors and across every region and nation of the UK.

JBP will be represented on CBI Councils in the South West and Yorkshire. It will also be part of a government affairs network that the CBI has established in London.

Chris Lawrance, Managing Director at JBP Communications and CBI South West Council representative, commented: “As a company that is heavily engaged with policy makers as part of our public affairs activities for our clients in a range of sectors, we felt that it was very important to be part of the discussions around policies that are impacting on business as a whole which the CBI is leading on.

“In addition, we hope to be able to share our insights from conversations we have with parliamentarians with the CBI networks in the South West and Yorkshire.

He added: “It will also be extremely useful in building productive and mutually beneficial relationships with other members who are leaders in their fields.”

Louise French, Northern Director for JBP and CBI Yorkshire Council representative, added: “At JBP, we see CBI membership as a natural step in contributing to an environment which supports economic growth, encourages investment and benefits the UK business community. In Yorkshire, where we have just opened a new office, it will also play a key role in building our networks and influence.”

JBP Communications brings more than four decades of expertise across sectors including the built environment and infrastructure development, the low-carbon economy, local and regional government, logistics and transport, the rural economy and telecoms.

Its client portfolio includes names such as Allego UK, Barratt Homes, EcoVadis, E.ON, the Independent Networks Cooperative Association, Linde Material Handling, National Grid and Palletways Group.
