National communications agency appointed to raise profile of industrial safety specialist protecting Britain’s critical infrastructure

JBP Communications has been appointed to deliver a strategic communications programme for South West-headquartered industrial safety specialist SA Safety.

SA Safety operates across the UK, providing rescue teams, industrial support and accredited training to organisations in the high-risk utilities, industrial and manufacturing sectors to protect the people who keep Britain’s critical infrastructure moving.

Since 2018, the business has provided more than 120,000 rescue team hours to major facilities within the UK and delivered specialist training to more than 5,000 students, both on site and through its fully equipped training centre in Devon.

Its clients include major organisations such as EDF and Babcock, with services spanning safety audits, training needs analysis, emergency planning, rope access, standby rescue teams and industrial cleaning, alongside specialist training in confined space, fire safety, working at height, first aid, and health and safety.

JBP will provide strategic communications, public relations and media engagement support, helping SA Safety build recognition for the expertise and experience behind its work and strengthen its reputation across the sectors it serves.

The appointment builds on JBP’s longstanding experience in the industrial, infrastructure and utilities sectors, including work with global nuclear manufacturer Boccard, major energy company E.ON and household name brand WD-40.

Chris Lawrance, Managing Director at JBP Communications, said: “We’re proud to be working with SA Safety and helping to shine a spotlight on a business which is doing hugely important work behind the scenes to protect the people and infrastructure that Britain relies on.

“There is a wealth of expertise within the SA Safety team and a strong story to tell about the role it plays in keeping some of the country’s most critical facilities operating safely, and we are looking forward to helping bring that to life.”

SA Safety’s team brings together highly trained rescue and safety specialists, including former firefighters and Royal Marines, alongside experienced commercial and operational professionals.

Managing Director Mark Shaddick founded the business following a 24-year career in the Fire and Rescue Service, where he progressed from operational firefighter to manager of the Access and Rescue School for the Fire Service Training Academy.

He also developed and delivered the New Dimension Urban Search and Rescue Project, holds a Diploma in Technical Response and Incident Management for Specialist Recovery and is a Fellow of the Institute of Search and Technical Rescue.

Speaking on the appointment, Mark said: “We’ve never really been a business that spends a lot of time talking about ourselves. Our focus has always been on doing the job properly, looking after our people and making sure our clients can rely on us when it matters.

“But this is a really exciting point in the journey for SA Safety, with some big things ahead for the business. We’ve got a hugely experienced team, many of whom have spent their careers in safety-critical roles, and we’re looking forward to working with JBP as the business enters its next chapter.”

The agency has more than four decades of experience working across sectors including infrastructure, industrial manufacturing, energy, logistics and transport, the built environment and the low-carbon economy.
