John is an expert in stakeholder engagement, having over 25 years experience in senior positions within the energy sector.
As the Head of Community and Regional Engagement for National Grid, he was responsible for building UK wide integrated engagement strategies across the Electricity Transmission, Gas Distribution and Property businesses. As well as creating a localised narrative to communicate with diverse stakeholder groups, including politicians, community representatives and the private sector.
Previously, he was seconded to Business in the Community, one of HRH Prince of Wales charities, as part of a flagship programme to broker relationships between communities, charities and local businesses.
Prior to this John has held a number of senior management positions within National Grid, most notably being responsible for delivering enhanced energy plans for the London 2012 Olympic Games. He also volunteers his time as a Non-Executive Director of a drugs and alcohol rehabilitation charity in Birmingham.
